The Aims of Radio Salaam Shalom:

When making programmes, the following should help us all accurately reflect the spirit of Salaam Shalom.

Our Charter sets the aims as:

  • to promote positive relations and advance co-operation and understanding between the Jewish and Muslim communities in Bristol and the surrounding area

  • to assist and facilitate the Jewish and Muslim communities to explore and learn about each other

  • to provide opportunities for the Jewish and Muslim communities to co-operate and work together through learning, broadcasting, debate or any other legal and appropriate means.

Radio Salaam Shalom's Broadcasting and Online Principles:

Radio Salaam Shalom will respect both Jewish and Muslim faiths and cultures in particular, and those of all other communities the station and website may touch through its programmes and website content

Radio Salaam Shalom will be run in a spirit of respect, co-operation and goodwill by Board members, staff and volunteers

It is our intention that Radio Salaam Shalom will make programmes and create website content that will:

  • inform

  • explain

  • entertain

  • challenge

  • Influence

  • break down barriers

About Salaam Shalom Ltd:

Salaam Shalom Ltd is the parent organisation of Radio Salaam Shalom and was set up in 2006. It is a UK registered charity (Charity No: 1121252) and also a company limited by guarantee (Company Reg No: 5962028 )

Salaam Shalom Ltd has a very clear job to do, known as charitable objectives.

These are :

To advance education and mutual understanding of the distinctive features and common aspects of Jewish and Muslim culture and practices; in particular, but not exclusively, by promoting and enabling dialogue and collaboration between the Muslim and Jewish communities within and between themselves and the wider public in Bristol, the South West of England and beyond.

About Radio Salaam Shalom:

Radio Salaam Shalom was created as the main way of achieving these objectives. But as the organisation grows, it is hoped that Salaam Shalom Ltd will create other projects that will support community dialogue.

Meet the Trustees:

As with every UK charity, Salaam Shalom Ltd has a Board of Trustees to oversee its activities, make sure that charitable funds and donations are spent appropriately, and to support the management team and volunteers in keeping Radio Salaam Shalom on the air.

The Board is made up of an equal number of members of the Jewish and Muslim communities. Each Trustee has particular skills and experience which gives them a vital role in supporting the organisation. Most of the Trustees have also been heard on Radio Salaam Shalom itself – either as guests or regular programme presenters.
