‘During my four week volunteer placement at Salaam Shalom, I worked across a number of varied projects and gained a wide range of new skills and knowledge. It was an informative and inspiring experience, and a pleasure to work in such a fun and welcoming environment. Rebecca and Shabana gave me loads of support when working on tasks which were new to me and were always keen to use and build on the skills and knowledge I already had, so overall I felt like I made a valuable contribution to Salaam Shalom’s work. Tasks included research and planning for a future project, learning to use new computer programs for sound editing and creating videos, and updating the website and social media sites. It was fantastic to learn more about the day-to-day workings of a dynamic small charity, and to meet some of the amazing people involved in everything Salaam Shalom is doing. Thanks for the opportunity Salaam Shalom!’
