Shared Spaces is a project of Salaam Shalom, led by Rebecca Bellamy with the support of Wendy Rayment (2016), Kim Sherwood (2016) and Karan Sahota (2015). And the support of Salaam Shalom's board of Trustees and project volunteers.
Shared Spaces is about using the Arts to bring communities together. Producing spaces for conversing, learning and creating together. Providing opportunities for Artists from different communities, particularly British Muslim and Jewish communities, to work and to network together and to be part of a collective of Shared Spaces Artists, who support the ethos of the project.
2015 and 2016 events have included an accompanying programme, of workshops, talks, film screenings, displays, dialogues and performances. A number of events programmed in partnership with other key Arts organisations in the City. With thanks to Bristol Old Vic, Bristol Festival of Ideas and Watershed. We also collaborated with the University of Bristol and Bristol Archives. Special thanks to The Grant Bradley Gallery for hosting the 2016 exhibition and The Colston Hall for hosting the 2015 exhibition.
Shared Spaces is an ongoing project and subject to funding. We hope to continue sustaining a relationship with all the artists we have worked with, and continue to expand the number of Artists involved.
